Through the Ages

I wonder, a lot.

Was at the SAAQ (Quebec's version of the DMV) today. I brought my brother to take the written test to obtain a learner's permit, and there were so many kids there getting their licenses as well. It made me think back to (WHOA) 5 years ago when I was doing the same thing.

It is a benchmark in one's life, something that is looked forward to from the earliest age. I started thinking about the other important events we experience as we grow up.

13- oh my god you are a teenager
15- you hate being a teenager
16- you are lucky enough to become a new driver
18- you are legally an adult, go ahead and buy all the cigarettes, lotto tickets, and porn you want. Plus you can drink legally in Quebec and other places
21- booyah baby, you can drink legally anywhere in the world

Sometime after the 21st year of your life, you are expected to graduate university, find a career, get married, and have kids. Funny there are no numbers attached to these much more major events. You are kind of just left to wonder where your road will take you and when these things will happen in their own time.

P.S. Congrats Team Canada for winning the gold medal in the World Junior's for the 5th year in a row!

It might make you feel better
